Course Description
In this course, you will learn about the basics of neuroscience, such as neural communication at the beginning, and later on, add more complex topics, such as reward systems or neurodegenerative diseases.
Throughout this course, you will begin with learning the communicative properties of neurons and neural systems. Then, with the information you have gathered, you will dive into more detailed and intricate topics like somatosensory, motor, visual, chemosensory, and nociceptive systems, reward systems, addiction, decision-making, learning, memory, and so on.
After gathering every possible key knowledge on neuroscience’s non-medicine related part, then you will be introduced to neuron-killing (neurodegenerative) diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and so on, and you will have the chance to review how they present themselves in real cases and even have the chance to learn how a differential diagnosis is made in such cases.
This is a 5-week course, one 1-hour class per week. There will be regular, short assignments after each class (sometimes before class as well) and one main assignment.
